This short documentary film (1949) shows us the traditional Inuit (aka. Eskimo) way of life in Northwestern Alaska.

The Eskimo are the indigenous peoples who have traditionally inhabited the northern circumpolar region from eastern Siberia (Russia), across Alaska (United States), Canada, and Greenland.

The two main peoples known as “Eskimo” are: the Inuit of Canada, Northern Alaska (sub-group “Inupiat”), and Greenland, and the Yupik of eastern Siberia and Alaska. A third northern group, the Aleut, is closely related to the Eskimo. They share a relatively recent, common (“Paleo-Eskimo”) ancestor, and a language group (Eskimo-Aleut).

Alaskans also use the term Alaska Native, which is inclusive of all Eskimo, Aleut and Native American people of Alaska. It does not apply to Inuit or Yupik people originating outside the state.

10 Reasons Everyone is Moving to Anchorage, Alaska.
Why is everyone moving to Anchorage? This is a question a lot of people from Anchorage wonder all the time.
In my experience, it is kind of rare to find an Anchorage local that is willing to give the city a glowing review.
The website area vibe gives a letter grade for how locals feel about where they live. Anchorage gets a D-. A D-. Chicago gets a C+
Anchorage has its problems but it still can be a nice city to live in.
In the 2020 census, they had their first decade where the population declined. It went down by .2%. Not a big drop but drop nonetheless.
But, since 2020 they have started to gain population. Anchorage has grown in population by 3.2% and it is expected to continue for at least the next 6 years.

“This Is A Case Of Oppression” Says Director Of Julian Assange Documentary

Julian Assange is facing a second day in the High Court as part of long-standing battle against extradition to the US, where he is accused of leaking confidential military secrets.

He was unable to attend the first day of the hearing as his barrister told the court was too unwell.

The WikiLeaks founder is wanted by US authorities over an alleged conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defence information following the publication of hundreds of thousands of leaked documents relating to the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

Lawyers for the 52-year-old argued that if extradited, he would face a “flagrant denial of justice” by prejudiced judges, and was being prosecuted for an “ordinary journalistic practice”.

TalkTV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by director of the documentary about Assange called ‘The Trust Fall’, Kym Staton, to discuss his final bid to fight extradition to the US.

“His life is at risk”: Julian Assange’s wife joins protests against his extradition to US

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s extradition hearing began on Tuesday in London, as he faces what could be his last legal battle to prevent his extradition from Britain to the United States.

Supporters of Assange protested in several cities, including Brussels, Berlin, and Rome, forming a human chain between the U.S. and British embassies in Berlin.

“The United States plotted to murder my husband. He is being accused of journalism… Julian is a political prisoner, and his life is at risk. What happened to Navalny can happen to Julian. He has to be released,” Assange’s wife, Stella Assange said.

“Assange for us, for me, is a hero. He’s an advocate for truth, peace, justice, and I’m here today because we want to make sure that he doesn’t get extradited to the U.S. for 175 years in a hi-max,” a protester said in London.

Another protester in Brussels expressed their outrage, “I’m here today because Julian Assange has been in prison for 13 years and the world isn’t reacting, the media aren’t reacting and the governments of every country are turning a blind eye. I find this unacceptable.”

Assange has spent over 13 years battling authorities in English courts. The extradition hearing is expected to last until early April.
