FRESHLY MILLED PIZZA DOUGH:
Two 12″ pizza pans
2 cups warm water
4 to 4 1/2 cups freshly milled hard white wheat
4 tsp quick rising (instant) yeast
1/4 cup oil
2 tsp salt

HOW TO MAKE IT:
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, and flour and mix just until a soft dough forms.
Let rise for 20 minutes to let gluten develop.
Sprinkle yeast over top and mix to combine. While mixing, add oil and salt.
Knead dough until smooth and elastic, about five minutes.
Cover tightly and refrigerate for 24 hours or up to 3 days. You may also use the dough right away if desired.
PIZZA:
When ready to use, bring pizza dough to room temperature.
Preheat oven to 400°F, 200°C.
Divide dough into 2 equal portions.
Roll out each portion into a 12″ circle.
Place on prepared pizza pans.
Brush lightly with olive oil or pizza sauce, and add your choice of toppings.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until crust is lightly browned. Enjoy!

We are the Retherfords and we live in a 12×16, (with a loft) 375 sq.ft, dry cabin in Alaska. We live a simple and minimal lifestyle. We believe that experiences and relationships are more important than things.
We enjoy the simple, yet hard work involved in living this way.

We are on-grid and do have electricity, but use it minimally. We have no indoor water, bath, or toilet. We have wood stove heat only.

We are only on this earth for a short time and everything here is temporal. We are on a journey to our promised land in heaven, where all things are eternal. With that in mind, we are not working for temporal things but for the eternal. We are living life as God leads and not allowing ourselves to become comfortable or settled but continue to grow and move through this journey.

We have a lot of different content on our channel, just real life stuff for us. Cabin life, our simple ways, Christian content, adventures, hikes, & simple meals & snacks.

Our Channel is a smorgasbord of life lived.

Our goal is to become financially free, and able to pack our bags and go wherever and whenever God leads us.

Where The Moose Outnumber The People | Our First Alaskan Winter

Winter is *slowly* coming to an end here in Alaska.

Slowly may be a bit of an understatement! The whole reason this week’s video is not of us finishing up the outhouse on the property is because of the wild winds we are getting right now! I don’t even want to know what the wind chill is out there.

So, today we pay tribute to the beautiful winter we have had so far. Even these less-than-amazing weather days have their own beauty.

Every time I type one of these descriptions, all I can think about is what is to come. Every week I want to talk about the incoming work on the outhouse or garden or eventually the cabin of my dreams. This week it was nice to reminisce on how far we’ve come up to now. We have truly been living in the best time of our lives and it has been an honor to share it with you all.

It’s finally done & we’re moving in baby!!! We started our master bedroom addition to our tiny cabin in the woods last summer. Finally seeing it all come together is so exciting! We desperately needed the extra space in our cabin & now Joe & I have a getaway space that’s private, intimate and cozy. Come along with us as we finish up the final touches and decorate with some of my favorite rustic decor! This cabin addition was one of the biggest projects Joe & I have ever taken on, and we’re so pleased with the outcome.
